Road Trip: Day Four

I failed to take a single picture today. Sad, sad, sad. (This picture courtesy of Google). :)
David and I did have an amazing day though! We woke up at Farragut after the night of the bear (I was surprisingly not as tired as I thought I would be considering the night I had). We laid in bed and tried to decide what our plan should be for the day. We could take the chance of having a full car and go to Silverwood/Boulder Beach or we could be safe and drop the stuff off at the hotel, spend the day there, and then tomorrow go to the theme park.
We decided to go to Silverwood and risk the thieves.
We repacked the car, jumped in our swim suits and headed the 15 minutes to Silverwood. We paid for parking and were happy to see that the parking lot was full of cars, trucks, and trailers full of stuff. So we were happy that our car wouldn’t necessarily be the first target.
We walked into the park and immediately searched for a locker. There were several that were already sold out, but we were lucky to find one located outside the Skeeball area (between the water and theme parks).
David and I had it all planned out. We would do the roller coasters first, and then the rides where you get wet before walking to the water park. There is nothing worse than being wet the entire day if you don’t really need to be.
The first ride we went on was called the Panic Plunge. There was no line, which was awesome, but it was like a baby brother of the Hollywood Tower of Terror in Disneyland. If you haven’t heard the story, that ride pretty much traumatized me the first time I went on it. My dad, twin sister Ali, and I went on it (in the first row) and I was so scared my eyes would literally not open and I was linking my dad’s arm so hard he had bruises for the next couple days.
Regardless, David and I hopped on, took off our shoes and rose 140 feet in the air, only to drop 120 feet moments later at 47 mph (these are the real stats. I’m looking at the website). To get an idea, check out this video not of David and I, but definitely of the ride: Panic Plunge
I pretty much looked like the 11 year old girl after the ride.
After that we went on every roller coaster in the entire park. I was pretty impressed with myself. Our favorite ride was Tremors which is one of their two wooden roller coasters. This one went just above 100 feet and the very first drop of the ride drops you 103 feet into one of the four underground tunnels at 63 mph. It was really fun and even takes your picture at the last major drop. Although it was silly, David and I passed on that memento. He looked fine, I looked like someone was pushing my cheeks back towards my spine. Paired with my closed eyes and wind blown hair, it was not overly attractive.
David had to talk me into the scariest looking roller coaster called Aftershock. This ride was insane. It goes 191 feet, with the longest drop being 177 feet at 65.6 mph. There are three inversions, 4.5 G-Forces, a 90 degree max. vertical angle, and lasts a grand total of 1:32. It was SO scary but also turned out to be one of our favorite rides.
After the roller coasters, David and I went to Crazy John’s BBQ buffet. It was actually really good. We enjoyed garlic mashed potatoes, pulled pork, hot dogs, salads, rolls, and various other things. It was great!
We went to the water park next, which was freezing due to the overcast sky. We had a lot of fun though and enjoyed one of the two wave pools, the high velocity sides (I wasn’t a fan of these. After climbing 7 flights of stairs, and traveling down a slide at 55 mph left me breathless and with the world’s biggest wedgie. Sorry for the TMI, but I thought you deserve to know what happened).
We did a lot of slides that David and I could actually enjoy at the same time on the two person rafts. We also did a big raft thing with a grandpa and granddaughter which made us go up the turns of the slides at 180 degrees. It was hilarious.
We spent about six hours at the park and it was a blast! There was a lot of carnival booths we didn’t visit, but we figured, we can do those often and don’t always get the opportunity to experience water parks and theme parks. Totally worth going to for a day if you have an opportunity.
After that, we spent the rest of the night at the beautiful Hampton Inn in Coeur d’Alene. It was in the coolest spot, we were right across from a little strip mall and had dinner at Red Robin. We weren’t surprised to see a huge line formed outside the Regal Cinemas that was across the street from our hotel and we were able to hear their cheering. We decided not to go at midnight, but are definitely planning on going tomorrow.
:) Such a fun day. :)
