I can’t believe it is already time to go on our trip! It seems like yesterday we were saying, “Oh yeah, we can plan a vacation in six weeks.” We are planning on heading out pretty early (8 a.m. or so) and can’t wait!! David and I haven’t had a “real” vacation since our honeymoon, so this will be even more fun for us! David has done such a great job planning; I can’t wait to see all the different places he’s reserved for us! :)
In order to fully prepare for our trip, we went to Winco and got the supplies for our trip. It’s so weird to think of camping food. I am used to “camping” in my parents motor home or lake/beach cabins that have TVs, showers, ovens, stoves, microwaves, and so on. My only other time camping like this was on Walkabout, which my week-long wilderness excursion with school. A group and I summited the false peak of the middle Sister in Sisters, OR, which was fun, minus the ants, flies, and lack of showering. I could handle all of that though, the thing that REALLY got me on that trip was digging up someone else’s poop. I will never recover fully from that experience.
This time, David booked us relatively close to bathrooms. Halleljuah.
Today, I spent the morning lying out all of our camping stuff and made sure we have everything. We actually have, or was able to borrow from my parents, a lot of things on REI’s list of things to pack. We have a few things left to get, but as a whole, our final “pre-road trip shopping” looks pretty minimal.
I can’t wait! David got off work and we were both yelling and dancing around that we were on vacation. I am sure we are going to have adventures, and if you know us, you know this is probably going to be the case.
I’ll be updating this *hopefully* everyday. Whether we get Internet or not, I am not sure, but I’ll make sure and post them when we do.
:)
Here goes nothin’.
